Electromagnetic transitions between giant resonances within a continuum-RPA approach
نویسنده
چکیده
A general continuum-RPA approach is developed to describe electromagnetic transitions between giant resonances. Using a diagrammatic representation for the three-point Green’s function, an expression for the transition amplitude is derived which allows one to incorporate effects of mixing of single and double giant resonances as well as to take the entire basis of particle-hole states into consideration. The radiative widths for E1 transition between the charge-exchange spin-dipole giant resonance and Gamow-Teller states are calculated for 90Nb and 208Bi.

The Spectral Line Shape of Exotic Nuclei
The quadrupole strength function of 28O is calculated making use of the SIII interaction, within the framework of continuum-RPA and taking into account collisions among the nucleons (doorway coupling). The centroid of the giant resonance is predicted at ≈ 14 MeV, that is much below the energy expected for both isoscalar and isovector quadrupole resonances in nuclei along the stability valley. A...

متن کاملE2 CORE POLARIZATION FOR sd-SHELL SINGLE-PARTICLE STATES CALCULATED WITH A SKYRME-TYPE INTERACTION
We have studied the core-polarization effect on the IsOd-she11 single-particle electromagnetic quadrupole transitions due to coupling with the quadrupole giant resonances. The self-consistent Hartree-Fock + RPA method is applied for the calculations of the single-particle wave functions and the response functions of the giant resonances. The particle-vibration-coupling model is used to calculat...
متن کاملSelf-consistent Description of Collective Excitations in the Unitary Correlation Operator Method
The fully self-consistent Random Phase Approximation (RPA) is constructed within the Unitary Correlation Operator Method (UCOM), which describes the dominant interaction-induced short-range central and tensor correlations by a unitary transformation. Based on the correlated Argonne V18 interaction, the RPA is employed in studies of multipole response in closed-shell nuclei across the nuclide ch...
متن کاملSkyrme Interactions and Quasiparticle RPA
A finite rank separable approximation for the quasiparticle RPA with Skyrme interactions is applied to study the low lying quadrupole and octupole states in some S isotopes and giant resonances in some spherical nuclei. It is shown that characteristics calculated within the suggested approach are in a good agreement with available experimental data.
